The Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Ltd., (APCO) APEX Society was formed with the
merger of three regional societies i.e., Hyco Fabrics, Raya Fabrics and Andhra Handlooms in the year 1976 with the main
objective of providing Marketing support to the Handloom Products produced by the Primary Societies in the State.
As a result of bifurcation of A.P. State in 2014 and formation of the Telangana State as per the AP Re-Organization, Act
2014, the Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Ltd., (TSCO) was formed with the motto to market the
Handloom Varieties being woven by the Weaver member of Primary Weavers Cooperative Societies in the Telangana State
for their upliftment with the kind cooperation and support of both the State and Central Governments. There is a dire need
to expand the marketing facilities in view of the Weak Financial of the New Organization.
The object of the TSCO is to serve and function as a State level Apex society for Cotton, Silk and Wool handloom weavers
and their primary societies and to organize the handloom industry on commercial lines in the area of operation and to
expand and develop the market for handloom fabrics. It shall also be the object of the society to provide processing facilities
including dyeing, mercerizing, printing and finishing etc. for all types of yarn and varieties of cloth to the member-societies
and to such other institutions and individuals on hire or job work basis. For the purpose of attaining these objects, it shall be
competent to the society
The Govt. Departments to purchase their required cloth through TSCO like Social Welfare. BC welfare, Tribal Welfare,
Gurukulam, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS), Mahatma JyotibaPhule
Telangana Backward 'Classes Welfare. Residential Educational Institutions Society (MPTBCWREIS),
SarvaShikshaAbhiyan(RVM). Similarly under various developmental Schemes, for the Development of Poor Weavers and
thereby for the development of the Handloom Sector in Telangana State like distribution of KCR kits, Ramzan Gift Packets,
Christmas Gift Packets & Bathukamma Sarees Distribution on the eve of Bathukamma Festival etc.,
There are 10 major Handloom Clusters in Telangana State such as Pochampally, Gadwal. Narayanapet. Dubbaka. Siddipet,
Jogipet, Warangal and Karimnagar etc., wherein 229 Primary Handloom Weavers Cooperative Societies are situated
covering 6912 No. of weavers. The district wise well known handloom varieties are as follows:
